You've got some good points Matt ! "Tongue-in-cheek humor" horror films have been around a long time.
I've never been a big fan of those. I remember watching "An American Werewolf in London" on cable as
a teenager and thinking they really ruined the movie with all of the JOKES... I saw what could have been
a great horror flick turned into a laugh-fest. Freddy Krueger became nothing more than a lousy comedian
in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies. "Scream" was just a parody of horror films, and ironically it had
more scares than most. Since the days of Vincent Price, and even well before that, humor has been part
of horror. (Heck, even the original "Frankenstein" had some welcome comedy elements). But the balance
was lost somewhere along the line...

Most films need a good laugh or two, don't get me wrong. But when the laugh is unintentional, that is
awful !!! I have laughed during a cheesy slasher flick myself, at a part that isn't supposed to be funny.
Blood, boobage and anything else aside, I'm sure studios will come back around and give us some good
old-fashioned scares sooner or later. (Some recent movies have tried, but they were pretty lame). Did
you see "The Unborn" ? It was more like "The Unbearable" ! LOL ! :-)

Its probably a bad sign for a horror movie when everyone in the theater is laughing when someone gets chopped up. I'll be honest, I love going to these cheesy horror remakes because they're the best comedy out there, much better than some of the ACTUAL comedy films that people have been putting out lately. I love sitting there and calling out how the next person is going to get it, its a form of very frightening and sick entertainment on my part. I almost got kicked out of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake a few years back because I wouldn't stop laughing manically. That being said, this was a film driven by Michael Bay, so in place of gratuitous explosions and special effects, we were treated to gratuitous blood and boobage... Not that I'm complaining much, I am very much in the demographic that this film was shooting for. Its just disappointing to me that there aren't any movies that come out anymore that give me the willies.

You couldn't drag me to the theatre to see this movie. I went and saw the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and was sorely disappointed. I think maybe I've gotten too old for these slasher flicks. I want to be scared...not see blood & gore.

But I liked the story of you and your mom! :-)

Friday the 13th, ya have that, didn't see though, and now you have given it a thumbs down. Your Grandparents are awesome man :). BTW, Boobage big or small sells. Hey Daniel, these day's I am more into the TV serials phase, I have seen all seasons of the 30 Rocks, Numb3rs, and Prison Break. There are less and less interesting movies around now. Can you suggest a few good old, English movies.

Oh my Gosh..This review was one of my favorites. When you said your grandparents bit the farm, I lost it! And the line, " They’re
not there to just absorb the scenery, but rather to smoke it." Classic, I say. The Michael Phelps comparison was way clever also. Cheers to you on a great review, and as always, cheers to your mom! :) :)
