Happy Halloween !!!
I have seen just 2 movies from the above list 😦
but the movies look interesting ..i would love to watch them especially The Thing .. heard from my friend that its awesome 🙂
“The Thing” ROCKS ! My favorite scene: Some dude
(who is really an evil alien in disguise) get his
head lopped off, and the head grows crab legs and
runs away !!! Talk about entertainment !!! LOL !
Awww, how can you not like Bella?! He’s so classic! :o)
Doesn’t The Exorcist belong on this list?
LOL ! 🙂 Mr. Lugosi is awesome !!! This is just a small
sample of some of my favorite Halloween/scary movies !
The page was just getting too long so I had to stop…
“The Exorcist” belongs up there, so does “The Omen”,
“Rosemary’s Baby”, “Salem’s Lot”, “Friday The 13th”,
“Night of the Living Dead”, “The Wolfman” “The Rocky
Horror Picture Show”, “Onibaba” and a few others !!!
OMG! Rosemary’s Baby!! I remember the first time I saw that movie!! Scared the beejeebies out of me!! Ruth Gordon was such a fabulous actress and Patsy Kelly I loved! (not that many even know who she was) But the movie is surely a classic fright movie!!
Ruth Gordon was indeed a tricker’s treat in that movie !
And I know of Patsy Kelly… She is in “Please Don’t
Eat The Daisies” with Doris Day ! I have that one on
DVD !!! I love it !!! As for Mia Farrow (AKA Rosemary),
she is one of my all time favorite actresses. I really
enjoyed her in the remake of “The Omen” (2006). She was
also fantastic in “Be Kind Rewind”, “Shadows and Fog”,
“Hanna and Her Sisters”, “Death on the Nile”, “The Great
Gatsby” and “The Purple Rose of Cairo” !!!
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is so often ignored on these kinds of lists – glad to see you add it. One of the best!
Thanks ! That’s one of my all-time favorite films, period !!! 🙂
I also LOVED Bette Davis (with Karen Black) in “Burnt Offerings”.
How about a little remembered film from the 80’s called “One Dark Night” with Meg Tilly? Silly teen horror flick, but it brings back so many memories! LOL
Another gem ! “One Dark Night” was actually pretty scary
for its day… I remember the corpses floating around the
mausoleum, and those poor girls buried alive under rotting
dead people ! Remember the girl with the toothbrush ? Or
how about Adam West ? LOL ! I actually owned that movie
on Beta !!!
Some of my other favorite scary movies on Beta: “Pieces”,
“My Bloody Valentine”, “Slumber Party Massacre”, “Terror
Train”, “The Funhouse” and “The House On Sorority Row” !!!
Happy Halloween!!!!! (see I told you I’m not the Grinch who stole Halloween)
I’m so glad you’re back and you’ve definitely got some great movies on this list. While they’re not really Halloween type movies my two favorite scary movies are Cape Fear (the remake) and The Others.
“Cape Fear” is pretty good anytime of the year. Believe it or not,
I’ve never actually seen the original. Hmmm… I Better put that
one on my “to be seen list” ! As for “The Others”, that is a darn
good Halloween suggestion. It’s very subtle and atmospheric…
LOL ! OK, so you are NOT the “Grinch That Stole Halloween”. I recant
my statement to that effect. But what do you think of Thanksgiving ?
Happy Halloween to you too! And Darkness Falls is such a great pick! Way too underrated that film 🙂
Thank You ! I agree !!! It did open at number one when it came out back
in 2003. Mixed reviews sent it to DVD a little early, but I really liked
the concept. A sequel would be cool, but that’s always a risky business.
Some horror sequels I did NOT like: “The Ring Two”, “The Grudge 2”, “Book
of Shadows: Blair Witch 2” and the deplorable “Halloween: Resurrection” !!!
Hey Daniel , Happy Halloween !!! Exorcist and Damien also give me creep ….buhaa…..haa..
Thanks Chirag !!! I still have a hard time watching those films to this day…
Remember Damien riding around on that little tricycle ? When he knocks his
poor mom over the railing ? That is such an iconic image of cinematic horror !
Just the other day, my Mom was on a ladder, and I said to her “Where is a
tricycle when I need one ?” We both started laughing and she said she would
make it a point to land on ME !!!
A couple of classic movies similar to “Exorcist/Omen” that I also recommend:
“Beyond The Door” (actually an awful film but I LOVED it) and “The Sentinel”,
a creepy 1977 horror film with an all star cast that includes such notables
as Chris Sarandon, Christopher Walken, Burgess Meredith, Beverly D’Angelo &
Ava Gardner (just to name a few) ! Happy Halloween !!! 🙂
\Happy halloween dude 🙂
Thank You Arvind !!! It’s been a crazy Halloween for me, but
fun. This year I actually got so many trick-or-treaters that
I ran out of candy. (I started dropping copies of my reviews
into their bags after that). Most kids were happy but a few
cried. LOL !!!
Sure thing I will get Beyond The Door and The Sentinel and watch em this weekend. Happy Halloween Dude 🙂
LOL ! 🙂 Be warned: “Beyond The Door” (also known as “Chi Sei?”)
falls into the “It’s so good it’s bad” category. But it sure scared
me when I was a little tyke !!! “The Sentinel” is a well-polished
classic, and sure to please !
Great selections for Halloween, man.
