Darn Patch ! I’ve Only Seen Half Of These Movies !
Happy New Year Everyone !!!
~ Welcome to Daniel’s Critical Corner ~
Raise Your Glass ! Drop Your Ball ! Prop Up Dick Clark !
Let’s Celebrate The Best of 2011 !!!
Looks like another New Year has pounced on us. Hopefully, the outgoing
year has left you unscathed (and unoccupied) !!! I myself felt the brunt of
many protesters’ scorn throughout 2011. But that’s only because I belong
to the “one percent” of film critics who are consistently spot-on, witty and
humble ! Ha-ha !!!
To be honest, it was almost impossible to go wrong with movie reviews in
2011… There were several fantastic cinematic offerings !!! Sadly, there
were quite a few melancholy events too. A cloud of despair hovered over
Hollywood after Dame Elizabeth Taylor passed away. Or, perhaps, it was
just a cloud of her signature perfume, “White Diamonds”.
Speaking of clouds, did anyone happen to see that giant fog bank hanging
over Sinead O’Connor’s short-lived marriage in Vegas ? It wasn’t another
misting of “White Diamonds”… It was more like “Tainted Turquoise” !!!
There were royal screw-ups (and royal weddings). Time to shine a light
on the flicks that helped us get through everything.
Here are The Best of 2011 !!!

Daniel’s Critical Corner: Always a “10” out of “10” !!!
~
what?! You didn’t like Super 8?? I thought it was a fun summer movie ! lol
I only saw 2 movies this year… Super 8 (I always enjoy “kids summer movies”.. that’s when the Star Treks, Indiana Jones , Superman etc would all come out!) And I just saw “We Bought a Zoo”…admitted it won’t take any awards but I was glad to see (cutie pahtootie) Matt Damon take on a reality story… even if they did change it from the book. It’s always good to toss in a “feel like things will get better” movie for those of us that need all the help we can get!..
hey.. Happy 2012 Daniel ! I hope you have a Healthy and Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year Pat ! I liked “Super 8”, but sadly that (and several other good films) had to be left off. There are at least a dozen other movies that could’ve easily made my “Honorable Mention” list. They include “Super 8”, “Cowboys and Aliens”, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” and even the latest “Twilight” installment. Then there is “Puss in Boots”, “Scream 4”, “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “The Adjustment Bureau” (starring Matt Damon) ! I also enjoyed “The Ides of March” and actually thought “The Green Hornet” was pretty cool…
I have not seen “We Bought a Zoo”, but will watch it soon based on your recommendation :-). Another flick I didn’t have a chance to see was “Water for Elephants” !
oops make that 3 movies I saw I forgot Harry Potter lol.. still none made your lists! lol
We Bought a Zoo will not win any awards..but then the simple movies that tell a story never do.
I didn’t see Water for Elephants but I did read the book and the book was very good.
A friend lent me the book “Water for Elephants” last month, and I really enjoyed it as well !!!
Have you read “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett yet ? That’s another good one. The film adaptation did it justice !
You see the movie “hesher” yet? Dark but really good. Hope you are well!
No, but I will check it out ! Happy New Year 🙂
I keep reading how people enjoyed Fast Five. Is it really that interesting? I gave up on the series five sequels ago and I couldn’t be bothered with this while it was in the theater. Now I’m convinced it would be a worthy rental. Thoughts?
“Fast Five” surprised me ! Before seeing it, I felt that they were just beating a dead horse with a dog (or something like that). However, this movie managed to breathe new life into the franchise by taking it in a different direction. We are presented an effective heist flick (if nothing else). Now, I will say, just about everything that happens is completely implausible. But with “Fast Five” delivering so much adrenaline-pumping action, all is forgiven. Fun from start to finish ! Be sure to watch the closing credits…
A fun list! I love how your incorporate some fun taglines with your film choices!
You really liked Green Lantern though? ha 😀
-T (previously TheScarletSp1der)
Thank you !!!
Yep. “Critical Corner” has gone green. LOL !
2011 was a great year for superhero flicks 🙂
The rear in your view…. lol….!!!
Well looking over your list, I must have had alot of fiber last year, because I completely passed all of 2011.
Hopefully Prometheus flies without dropping alot of goose poop, or I’ll just skip 2012 too.
Happy New Year Daniel…!!!
Well, let’s hope 2012 goes smoothly ! Ha-ha ! If nothing else, please watch “The Muppets” (featuring Mickey Rooney in a cameo). He couldn’t pass it. You shouldn’t either !!!
Great choices Daniel. I haven’t see Thor yet but I have it to watch today so I might have to fit it in thanks to your recommendation.
